BMW could well be credited with the creation of the modern day ‘Adventure’ motorcycle with the introduction of the R80GS in 1980. Prior to this trail bikes were predominantly light weight single cylinder machines, the introduction of the GS really broke the mould at hailed a whole new generation of large on/off road trail bikes that were much emulated in the late 80’s by the likes of Cagiva, Honda and Yamaha. As such Adventure style motorcycles are very popular today and this is a good opportunity to purchase a nice original, clean and tidy example of the bike that started it all.
Registered 1st April 1992 this example was recently imported from Germany and is being re registered here the in UK. Showing 56,960 kms ( 35,390 miles ) the bike had been in storage for some time without use, it has had a full check over by us new battery and is fitted with new tires. It comes with an MoT until Jan 2016 and will be supplied with full UK road documents. In generally very good overall condition, it runs well with no noise from the motor and no smoke and plenty of power, the only exception is the paint on both the side panels is cracked, the rest of the body work is in good order, the fuel tank is good with no dents or scratches, the exhaust system is also intact. Overall this is a good example of what is a great ridding bike, built in limited numbers they are getting increasing hard to find.
