This Z28 Camaro was converted to a race car over a period of years by Tony Dixon of Marshall Dixon Performance in the UK. Tony was a skilled engineer and American performance car tuner and parts specialist, he and a close friend intended to race the car in Classic Saloons and pre ’74 Historic series Grp.1. However sadly he passed away leaving his friend to complete the project which he did in 2011. Unfortunately he too became unwell and was unable to race the car, so it has never run in anger. A small fortune was spent on the build if this car, circa £20,000 on the engine alone, the rear suspension was a one off design, the body work completely stripped repaired and repainted to a high quality finish.
The result is a fire breathing monster, fitted with a 451cui V8 mated to a 4 speed Muncie race gearbox with a Hurst shifter and a power lock diff. The motor produces some 500+ hp, it has Dart alloy heads and Holley 700 carb and MSD electronic ignition. There are three large files of paperwork relating to this build which includes lots of photos and many bills, the car is UK registered and has a current MoT. It is in exceptionally good order throughout and has many fine detailed modifications.
