Registered new in the UK 21st August 1978 this matching number 900SS was delivered in this original colour scheme of black and gold. The previous but one owner purchased the bike in 1983, an old MoT from May 1983 records the mileage as 9,829 however we understand that the speedo was zeroed in 1984 / 1985 when the engine and gearbox were rebuilt. The history file contains invoices for this rebuild with + 0.4 new pistons in December 1984. It seems that the bike was laid up in about 2005 after it had covered a further 9,000 miles until we purchased the bike last year, and brought it back to road use. Recently re acquired by us the previous owner has covered a further 700 miles on the bike making some running repairs and cosmetic improvements. We calculate that the total milage is therefore some 19,727 miles, with 9,898 since the engine rebuild.
The paint work remains in largely original condition and stands up well, overall the bike presents very nicely, the Akront alloy rims are still in good order having been rebuilt and the bike retains its original Conti exhausts although they are solid there is surface corrosion. Mechanically the bike runs great, it starts easy, does not smoke and has no horrid noises. In short this is a really nice example that is ready to go. Supplied with UK V5C and an MoT until April 2016.
