The 600cc ‘short frame’ Scout immediately preceded the larger 750cc 101 Scout but was not in production very long making it a rare and not often seen model. This example presided in a small Italian collection having been previously restored in Italy by a mark specialist. Unfortunately the records were lost when the previous owner passed away. A copy of an old Italian logbook shows the bike was imported there in 1935 and bore the frame number 3718, although Indian motorcycles did not carry frame numbers before 1931. Equally so the engine number 831865 does not follow a factory sequence but it has been confirmed that the engine is the correct type ’27 600 unit. The bike is now UK registered with an age related plate to 1927 and has a UK V5C logbook bearing the number BF 8358. In good running order the bike remains in show condition, having had recent fettling in our workshop. A superb and rare example. SOLD.
