This Beautiful C Type recreation was privately commissioned in 2012 and built with a chassis supplied by Suffolk Sports Cars. The all aluminium body was hand made by Simon Isles Coachworks from plans and drawings supplied from an original car. The build took about a year to complete and uses torsion bar front suspension and a live rear axle with panhard rod, the half shafts are Jaguar MK1 on one side and MK2 on the other in order to get the correct axle width, the rear suspension is coil springs over shock absorbers. It is fitted with disc brakes all round. The 4.2 litre engine was rebuilt by ex Aston Martin racing division engineer Wilbert McGee, it is balanced with the cylinder head ported and polished and is fed by twin SU carbs, it is fitted with a Jaguar four speed with overdrive gearbox. The car has recently been trimmed and is supplied with a new tonneau cover.
Having covered only a few test miles the car has undergone some minor detailing in our own service dept. and is now ready for the road. It is in first class condition and is an excellent and exhilarating drive which really captures the essence of a 50’s sports / racing car.
