Introduced in 1956 the AJS Model 30 was also available as the Matchless G11 as both brands had been part of (AMC) Associated Motorcycles from 1938. Fitted with a 592cc engine a new frame and a restyled oil tank and toolbox, full-width front brake and a longer seat and an excellent AMC gearbox that was also fitted to many Nortons, including the Manx.
Peak output was only 33hp but it was capable of a 70mph cruising speed, despite poor sales the model 30 was a well built, reliable and good handling bike that was good for long-distance riding.
This example manufactured in ’56 is a well maintained and regularly used bike, in generally good condition it is mechanically sound and would make an excellent first classic or suitable ride for someone looking for a lighter bike that is easy to start.
