Records show that this Alfa Spider was built 7th September 1967 and sold 3rd Oct. ’68 to Alfa Romeo SA Johannesburg. It was imported to the UK in 1999 and has had just 3 owners since. The previous owner acquired the car from us in 2012, at that time it was a running driving car in generally sound condition but a bit scruffy, since this time the car has been partially restored. The body has received new panels to the rear wheel arches as well as new sills, any other corrosion issues were dealt with and the car received new paint in its original colour of white. The engine was also removed from the car and rebuilt including the fitment of a reconditioned 1750cc cylinderhead to the original matching numbers block.
A large history file comes with the car with many invoices and receipts showing much of the work done including some photos. Only some 279 right hand drive series one cars are said to have been produced, the ‘boat tail’ spiders being the most collectable and sort after, and this is one of only 84 cars currently known to the Duetto registry. A generally sound and presentable car in good running order it is MoT’d until May 2018.
