Production of the G series Square Four ran from 1936 to 1949, some 4,288 examples were built during this time, quite something considering the outbreak of World War II in 1939. An increase of capacity to 1000cc was incorporated in a new engine design and a plunger frame became an option in 1946 as well as replacement of the girder front forks with telescopic units. This rigid frame example registered 3rd March 1947 is in great running order having had a major engine and gearbox rebuild in 2014, bills in the history file total over £4,500 for this work by a Square Four specialist that includes work to the wiring, and mag/dyno. The condition of the bike is good, although the paint appears to be aging and there is a small dent in the right hand side of the fuel tank, but the bike is not rusty and has a fine general appearance for a machine of this age.
