One of the most enduring motorcycles of the 1950’s was unsurprisingly built by BMW. The bullet proof engineering and functionality of German built bikes is what we have come to expect however in the R69 they also created something of a style icon that continues to have a massive following today. Introduced in 1955 aprox 3,000 were built before being superseded by the R69S in 1960.
This fine matching number example was built in 1958 and was restored by a specialist in Sweden before being imported into the UK in 2019. Further fettling was completed a year later which included the fitment of an improved R69S front brake with new shoes.
It remains in first class order and in excellent running condition. Supplied with a small history file that includes a rare original factory owners book. This is a really fine example of what is a simply lovely classic bike to ride.
