BSA introduced its first new model the B31 in 1945, the pre-war overhead-valve design providing the basis for the renowned Gold Star sports roadster. The single cylinder 350cc four stroke engine initially had a rigid frame and telescopic forks, the first for BSA.
A rugged and reliable bike it was joined by a Competition variant a year later, the B32, which boasted a high-level exhaust system, 21” front wheel, additional chromium plating, a crankcase shield and lowered gearing. An alloy cylinder barrel and head, broadly similar to those used on the contemporary Gold Star.
This fine example here has a frame dated 1948 but is fitted with a later 1951 alloy completion engine. Having been restored it has been part of a collection for some years, and has recently been returned to road use. Fitted with a TT carb the bike remains in very good overall condition and is is good running order.
