This very period looking D type was built in the early 1990s with a kit supplied by L & R Roadsters. Using a Jaguar XJ12 as a donor it is fitted with a 3.8 Jaguar MkII engine with triple weber carburettors and a four-speed with overdrive synchromesh gearbox. The engine has been tuned, gas flowed and balanced, D Type profile cams have been fitted as well as E Type high compression pistons and a big valve cylinder head resulting in a motor producing well over 300 bhp.
Fitted with Dunlop style wheels, white racing number roundels the car has a fine aged patina, it has beniftted from recent work that included a new set of Spax adjustable front shock absorbers.
It is supplied with a small history file and a UK V5C logbook that shows the car as a 1972 Jaguar ‘Sports’ Historic Vehicle. In good working order the car drives well and is particularly quick. Finished in British racing green with green leather seats the car is in ‘race’ trim, short nose with a fin and has a removable passenger hatch lid. It is built to a good standard and has only covered a two thousand miles, a fun and exhilarating car to drive it elegantly pays homage to one of the greatest British sports cars of all time.
