Registered 1st Feb. 1963 this auto gearbox MKII has just 6 former keepers. In long term ownership from 1994 until 2008 the car belonged a couple in Essex who maintained the car very well, covering about 1,000 miles a year. This work included mechanical and cosmetic work which included a partial re spray. Bills for this work are included in the history file along with an amazing record of the mileage now showing 113,632. There are 34 old MoT’s that go back to 1970 when the car had covered 32,788 miles, from then on the mileage is recorded with only a small break from 2005 to 2008.
The previous owner acquired the car in 2008 and kept it garaged in London only covering about 1,000 miles while in his ownership, after moving abroad the car was left in the care of the garage who kept it MoT’d.
After a period of storage the car was entrusted to our own workshop for recommissioning which included an engine out service, replacing all the core plugs, cylinder head removed, re skimmed and de coked, new head gasket and cooling system overhauled. In addition the car has had the suspension and brakes overhauled and the power steering has been checked over and is in good working order.
A matching number example it retains its original registration number as shown in the buff logbook from 1963, delivered by Lex Motors, Orchard Street London W1. Supplied with an MoT until Jan. 2018 the car is in good running and driving order and is cosmetically quite presentable, in largely original condition the paint does have a few blemishes and a small scape on the drives side front wheel arch but there are no obvious signs of rust. The interior is also original, the headlining, carpets and wood work all in good order as are the seats that have no rips or tears.
With recent considerable expenditure this is generally a good example, with a sound history that has room for some improvement but that is ready to be used now.
