Built 13th December 1963 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars NY, USA 8th Jan. ’64 this car was first delivered to Los Angeles California. During a restoration in the USA the car was converted from FHC to Roadster, not an uncommon conversion and quite simple to perform as the two cars have the same chassis and inner panels.
In 1987 the car was purchased by classic Jaguar restorer / dealer Nigel Dawes and returned to UK after which it was restored to a high standard with work done to the engine gearbox and brakes, the car subsequently lived at the new owner’s house in the south of France until 2004 when it came back to the UK.
Sold again in 2006 it was then converted to right hand drive and the subject of further restoration work in 2010, this included a bare metal respray an engine rebuild and a re trim to the current colour combination of Red with Tan leather trim. A CD file of pictures of this work is in the history file.
Used sparingly the car remains in first class condition and has just had a major service, radiator flush and new header tank fitted. Over the years the car has also received some other sensible upgrades, stainless sports exhaust, 5 speed gearbox and Coopercraft front brakes. It retains its original engine block and comes with a good history file documenting much of the work and a JDHT Heritage Certificate. A visually striking car the interior, soft top and full length tonneau cover are like new while the body remains in first class order with very little signs of wear.
