  • DESCRIPTION

Delivered new on the 29th October 1955 this original Right hand drive XK140 was converted to race specification in 2001 by highly respected marquee specialist Trevor Groom and subsequently raced in the XK Challenge series for several years. The XK took 2nd in class in its debut season, overall victory in 2002 and a successful ‘Class B’ campaign win the following year.
Since then it has been raced extensively at major events including the Le Mans Classic in both 2004 and 2006 and has also competed successfully elsewhere in Europe, notably at Spa Francorchamps, Zandvoort and Criox.
Fitted with a four speed gearbox with a competition overdrive the XK has had various upgrades during its racing life. 2” SU Carburettors have been fitted as well as a high compression cylinder head polished and ported and fitted with 1¾ valves. Other modifications include a straight-through stainless steel exhaust, AVO adjustable shock absorbers, adjustable torsion bars and a 3.3:1 limited-slip differential. More recently the XK has undergone further improvements in our own workshop including an extensive refinish to the paintwork and is presented in very good condition throughout.
This highly competitive XK140 comes complete with a small history file including FIA and HTP papers valid until the 31st December 2026. Also included is a copy of the buff log book, old scrutineering stickers and a current UK registration. Still retaining its original registration number ‘SOM 213’ this highly eligible example is welcome at numerous international historic motor sport events and is ready to be enjoyed both on the road and track.
