There have been many Jaguar based specials built over the years as their components have solid, reliable and quality engineering within them making them perfect for car builders and designers to use. Most of these are traditional ‘kit’ cars that resemble the original car in some way, however when Kougar cars were founded in 1979 the idea was to build a bespoke sports car with a unique identity all of its own. The styling was taken from no one car, however the founder Rick Stevens had a particular fondness of the Frazer Nash TT and Healey Siverstone, the resulting cars have a very distinctive look, coupled with Jaguar running gear and the built proof Jaguar six cylinder engine Kougars’ are not only exhilarating to drive but are well respected as a manufacturer in their own right as some 200 of the original design have been built.
This example was constructed in 1984 by an engineer, who used a 1965 Jaguar S type as the donor, the car still retains its 3.8 litre engine and man/ overdrive gearbox. The previous owner purchased the car 1998 and continued to maintain it very well, it has been fitted with a Kenlow fan, new fuel pump and Spax front shock absorbers. The dark blue paint work is good order and the car comes with full weather equipment, a black soft top and side screens and a tonneau cover. Mechanically it is excellent, currently showing 83660 miles old MoT’s show that the car car has been used sparingly only covering aprox 1400 miles in the last 9 years, a new clutch was also fitted in 2004.
The car is supplied with a small history file of technical data, many old MoT’s, service invoices and the current UK V5C log book that states the make and model of the car as a Kougar Sports.
