  • DESCRIPTION

This MG ‘C’ GT Coupe has been continually developed over the last few years to ‘Sebring’ competition spec. with an all steel flared wheel arch body the original alloy bonnet remains. Inside the car has been partially stripped out the door, quarter and boot lid glass has been replaced with plexi and it has been fitted with a full roll cage with new light weight race seats and new 3 point harnesses.

The engine is fed through triple Webber carbs and fitted with an oil cooler and sports exhaust, the gearbox appears to be a standard 4 speed with overdrive unit.

A very well prepared car it has been used for many track days and sprints, rallied in South Africa and has competed in the UK ‘Le Jog’ historic rally twice as although quite track focused the heater and sound damping remain. Over the last four years it has been maintained by JSWL ltd who have carried out a number of major mechanical overhauls, including the whole rear suspension axle and brakes, total bills for work on the car are aprox £25,000 since 2016.

With an MoT until April 2021 the car remains in very nice overall condition and drives very well, the powerful 6 cylinder 2.9 litre engine makes a very pleasant Grrrr ! and has plenty of go.

Only six genuine GT ’S’ cars were built, two by the completion dept and BMC and four by John Chatham from the spare light weight body shells that were constructed. There are many replica’s most built from MGB GT shells and most with the incorrect V8 engines. This has to be one of the best and most credible replicas built, no only as it is a genuine C GT but the preparation and time spent on the car alone makes it a truly usable fast classic that can be used for a whole host of classic and historic events.
