  • DESCRIPTION

The MV 750 Sport America was the creation of the USA’s MV importers who wanted a bike that resembled the racing MV’s to market to customers in the USA. The result was a variation of the exiting 750S now bored out 789cc with a full fairing producing a claimed 75hp.

MV already had financial problems in the 1970’s that forced the company in to state administration in 1974 so a new model with potential export sales was most welcome. Of the 1,276 four-cylinder MV’s that were built between 1966 and 1980 it is said that there were about 540 America models, although the records are a bit sketchy.

Approximately 200 examples came to Europe, but at the UK launch in December of 1976 the price tag of £3,187. was a bit hefty and as such sales were poor resulting the in production only lasting from 1975 to 1977 although other examples may have been built after this from stocks of spares.

This rare example was delivered new to the UK and registered 21st April 1977. The first owner, an East Sussex resident kept the bike until 1984, selling it through Paul Smart’s Kent based shop in Paddock Wood to ex trails rider Don Morley. A further three previous owners followed until the current owner purchased it in 2015 entrusting service work to MV specialists MotoCorsa and MV Meccanica Verghera Ltd ( Mark Kay ) who completed a full service with new piston rings and fitted a Magni chain conversion in 2018. The bike is also fitted with a 4-pipe sports exhaust and alloy wheels.

Showing 9,406 miles, the bike was the subject of an article in the Nov. 2022 issue of The Classic Motorcycle and remains in excellent order throughout. It is supplied with a small history file and UK U5C document.
