Built 9th July 1966 this Norton Atlas was sent to Norton distributor Berlinger on the east coast of the USA. The already praised Atlas featured Nortons famous Featherbed frame and a Dominator engine bored out 750cc. First introduced in 1962 it had gained twin carbs and 12volt electrics by 1964 and become very popular in the USA export market where the majority of bikes were destined.
This example was returned to the UK in the early 1990’s and was subject to a very comprehensive restoration between 1994 and 1996 by it’s only UK owner after which it was road registered. It comes with a large history file that details the restoration work that included a full engine build. Following this work it was only used sparingly and has covered just 862 miles, a testament to the fine quality of this work and the way it has been kept is that it remains possibly one of the finest examples currently on offer despite the work being completed some 25 years ago !
A matching number example it has recently received an oil service and new battery and is ready to go. Also supplied with some old MoT’s, UK logbook and dating certificate.
