This original UK righthand drive Mk1 Tiger was built at the Jensen Motors works in West Bromwich 28th January 1965 although the logbook sates the date of first registration as 8th Aug1967. An original buff logbook with the car shows it being delivered to its first owner in St. Johns Wood, London changing hands again in 1972.
In 1983 the the original 260 cu engine was replaced for the current 289 motor which was rebuilt and upgraded with forged pistons, 228 cam, comp cam lifters and a hi flow oil pump and new cylinder heads, the full spec is listed. Further restoration work was also completed before it was sold again in 2008 following which it was converted for use in Historic Rallies.
This work is also well documented and includes sump guard, roll cage, 3:5:1 LSD, suspension upgrades, long range fuel tank and rally timing equipment. Following this work the car acquired a FIVA passport and become a regular competitor in events, finishing the Classic Marathon 2009 and The Rally of the Tests where it came 2nd in class.
It is supplied with a huge history file that contains approx. £40k worth of bills for continued maintenance including another engine rebuild in 2014. The current milage is showing as 39,633. The original blue paint is very good with no signs of corrosion, and although the interior is showing signs of age the original seats have been restored and are with the car along with the bumpers should you wish to re fit them. It also has its original soft top and tonneau cover as well as the hard top fitted.
A well presented, well prepared and proven Historic Rally car with not only a fabulous original history but a contemporary history also, in very fine overall condition and in great running order that is guaranteed to give you a smile every time you turn the key.
