  • DESCRIPTION

This Black Shadow was dispatched from the works 3rd Nov. 1949 to Vincent agents Conway Motors of West London, we believe with the registration number VMD 570. Having been restored at some it was fitted with a 1952 Rapide UFM number RC10707 which was also supplied by Conways. It remained in the UK until 1995 when it was exported to Holland, the history file contains expert evidence documents which show that at this time the bike was fitted with the earlier Bramton ( series B ) front forks. Factory records also in the file show that the genuine Shadow engine and RFM are matching as are the engine case numbers Z19.

The bike was returned to the UK recently and fitted with a correct set of Girdraulic forks that have been completely rebuilt, also by Conway Motors. In addition the bike received some €3,000 refurbishment in 2013. Parts replaced at that time include the clutch plate (Ferodo), brake linings (x8), taper roller bearings, engine sprocket, shock absorber cam, primary chain (triplex), kickstart ratchet, Lucas magneto, battery and numerous more minor components, a record of this work is also on file.

In generally good order the bike has had a recent full check over at our works and is in very fine running condition, it starts easily and runs well, a useable ready to go example that will continue to rise in value. It has been re registered here in the UK and is also supplied with dating information from the Vincent Owners Club.
