Produced between 1982 and 1985 the R65 LS was based on the existing R65 but with new styling by Hans Muth, who had already designed the original Suzuki Katana. Like the Katana this was a fairly radical design, an attempt to capture the imagination of the sports / touring market. Although some 6,000 examples were built they are hardly ever seen on the roads of the UK, this early example comes from the collection of a long time member of the UK BMW club who partially restored in the bike in 2005, at which time the milage was 28,515. The front forks have been overhauled and head bearings replaced, as well as overhaul to the rear drive system, importantly a new and correct black exhaust system has been fitted, a part that is very hard to find.
It is now showing 3,607 miles, covered since the work was completed and it remains in very good general condition. In very good running order, with a new battery fitted, it is supplied with some bills for the work done, the UK V5C logbook and will be supplied with a new MoT. A rare and interesting bike for the avid BMW collector.
