This left hand drive 240Z was delivered new in California by Finley Bros Datsun, Crescent City on the 30th Sept. 1971. The first owner a Mr James Derrick owned it until 1998, while in his care he kept a good record of the car, there is large history file that includes the original handbook, warranty and service booklet and original warranty card together with many letters from the suppling dealer.
Having found its was to the UK in 2015 the car underwent a 3,000 hour restoration, the body shell was completely dismantled and bare metal painted, all the running gear was restored and re assembled. During this process it was discovered that the car had been fitted with a later 280Z 2.8 litre engine, which was rebuilt and fitted with a big valve head, larger cam and 5 speed gearbox. A comprehensive record of this work was recorded and there are photos that document the restoration work from the start with many bills and receipts for new parts used.
Since the work was completed the car has only covered test mileage and remains in ‘show’ condition. Now UK registered it is supplied with the V5C logbook, the history file with all the restoration details, a copy of the USA certificate of title and new MoT. An absolutely immaculate example.
