This fine series II type 14 Elite was first registered 19th April 1962, just three owners from new it had been with the previous owner since 1975, a remarkable 41 years ! Lotus Club records show the car was originally white in colour and that is still retains its original 1216cc Climax engine number FWE 10503, we understand that the engine has been ‘stage two’ tuned and it is fitted with a high-lift camshaft, oil cooler and body mounted oil filter.
The car comes with fourteen old MoT certificates that date back to 1983 when the milage was stated as 49,389 these run consecutively until 2006 when we understand the car was laid up until the latest MoT was issued July 2016 at 50,159 miles. The car is also supplied with two buff logbooks, old V5’s and the current V5C logbook.
Recently it has had a full check over and service in our own work shop and been fitted with a new clutch slave and master cylinder and a new brake master cylinder. Mechanically the car is in great running order, the engine holds good oil pressure does not overheat and runs well. We understand that the car was partially restored in the late 1970’s / early 80’s and remains in generally good order from then, the paint does have a few scratches and stress cracks but the integrity of the fibre glass shell itself is very good, the interior is also in generally good condition especially the seats.
The type 14 Elite was in production from 1958 to 1963 and of the 1,030 cars produced this is a relatively late model, also retaining its original registration number it is fine, unmolested example in an attractive patinated condition, mechanically sound it is ready to go. SOLD.
