Suppled new by Dutton-Forshaw Ltd of Corby on 20th Sept. 1973 the first lady owner kept the car until 1985, it was sold again in 1987 by Duncan Hamilton & Co. Bagshot, Surrey, at that time showing 41,157 to another lady owner – during her 16 year ownership the car was hardly used but was showing signs of age.
Purchased in 2003 and only showing 41,713 miles, the car then underwent a comprehensive restoration of the body and suspension and a refresh of all the mechanicals, this work is well documented in the history file as well as many invoices and bills for this and subsequent routine maintenance.
Now with 6 former keepers the car has still only covered 48,751 with 21 old MoT’s we believe the milage to be genuine it also has an original Triumph / British Leyland service book that shows a fully stamped service history up to 37,688 miles in 1986.
Styled by Michelotti and powered by a 6 cylinder 1998cc engine the MK3 was the last version of the GT6 which went out of production in 1973, this car among the last built is fitted with the optional 4 speed with overdrive manual gearbox. Probably a little bit underrated in the past few years the cars are fun to drive with ‘go kart’ type steering and a raspy engine note.
This example remains in really excellent all round condition and is supplied with a great history file, photo record of the restoration, original handbooks and BMHT certificate confirming it retains its original engine.
