The International Six Days Trial successes in the late 1940s prompted Triumph to adopt the ‘Trophy’ name for their off-road-styled 500cc and 650cc machines, first the 500cc TR5 and then 650cc TR6, introduced in 1956.
The TR6 went on to gain much success as the bike of choice in the early 1960’s for the‘off road’ competition rider particularly in the USA where the bikes become known as ‘Desert Sleds’. Many of these riders where not professional and so a bike that was able to race at the weekend and ride to work on Monday was the real secret to their success.
Imported from the USA in 2001 this matching number restored example remains in first class condition and great running order. It is supplied with a small history file with good maintenance by the previous owner and is showing 9,654 miles.
