Originally registered 16th April 1951 this Comet was upgraded at some time with a Rapide engine No. F10AB/1/6271 of the same year, the UFM and the RFM both bear the same frame number RC1/1/6715. We are unsure when this ‘Rapide’ conversion was started but the current owner purchased the bike as a near completed project with the engine already rebuilt in 2016. The assembly and refurb of the rest of the bike was completed recently and only a few test miles have been completed since.
Generally the bike is in good cosmetic condition and in great running order. It is a good riders bike and is a opportunity to acquire a good useable Vincent twin at a sensible price. It is suppled with a few bills dating back to the 1950’s and buff logbook dated 1961 that shows the bike’s type as a Comet but a 1000cc giving some indication as when the engine may have been changed, it also show it retains its original number of FDP 866.
